Our patient, client, and consulting consents have a Fee Agreement which lists the precise costs of services, for initial appointments as well as ongoing appointments. Our providers will discuss any known additional costs for programs, packages, or add-ons, during the session, to the best of their ability. Feel free to contact our staff to better understand how much we would bill for certain services, but to better understand the reimbursement or costs to you of labs, medications, or other medical services that may be covered by your out-of-network insurance benefits, please contact your insurance company directly.
**Our clinics are not contracted with any insurance companies, so any reimbursements for out of pocket expenses would be based on the terms of your out-of-network benefits with your insurance company**
Understanding the No Surprises Act: Protecting Patients from Unexpected Medical Bills
At The Faculty Practice, LLC, we understand how stressful unexpected medical bills can be. That’s why we want to ensure you are informed about the No Surprises Act, a federal law designed to protect you from surprise medical bills and give you greater control over your healthcare costs.
What is the No Surprises Act?
The No Surprises Act, enacted on January 1, 2022, is a U.S. federal law aimed at protecting patients from unexpected medical bills. It ensures that you are not charged more than your in-network costs for certain out-of-network care, such as emergency services or treatment provided at an in-network facility by out-of-network providers.

Why Was the No Surprises Act Created?
Surprise medical bills often occur when patients receive care from out-of-network providers they didn’t choose. For example, you may visit an in-network hospital for surgery, only to later find out that the anesthesiologist or radiologist was out-of-network, leading to a much higher bill.
The No Surprises Act was created to:
-
Prevent Financial Hardship: Protect patients from unexpectedly high out-of-pocket costs.
-
Promote Transparency: Ensure patients know their financial responsibilities upfront.
-
Encourage Fair Billing Practices: Establish a process for resolving billing disputes between providers and insurers without involving patients.

Key Protections Under the No Surprises Act
The No Surprises Act covers several key areas to safeguard patients:
-
Emergency Services:
-
If you receive emergency care at an out-of-network hospital or emergency facility, you cannot be billed more than your in-network cost-sharing amounts.
-
-
Non-Emergency Care at In-Network Facilities:
-
When you receive non-emergency care at an in-network facility, but certain services are provided by out-of-network providers, you cannot be billed more than your in-network rate.
-
-
Air Ambulance Services:
-
The law protects patients from surprise bills for air ambulance services provided by out-of-network companies.
-
-
Advance Cost Estimates:
-
Providers are required to give you a Good Faith Estimate of costs before scheduled care, so you know what to expect.
-
-
Balance Billing Prohibition:
-
Out-of-network providers cannot bill you for amounts beyond your in-network cost-sharing rate for covered services.
-

What Should You Do If You Receive a Surprise Bill?
If you believe you’ve been improperly billed, here are steps you can take:
-
Contact Your Provider:
-
Reach out to your provider to confirm if the charges are correct.
-
-
File a Complaint:
-
If the bill violates the No Surprises Act, you can file a complaint with the No Surprises Help Desk by calling 1-800-985-3059 or visiting the CMS No Surprises website.
-
-
Use the Independent Dispute Resolution Process:
-
The law provides a process for resolving billing disputes between providers and insurance companies without involving you.
-
